To our premier holster makers,

You have the opportunity to get whatever gun you want. You all know enough gunsmiths that all you have to do is ask.

What gun do you carry?

What is your go to gun?

Are they the same?

Lester.

My off-duty carry pistol is either a Glock 23 or a Browning Hi-Power, both carried in one of my In-Cognitos, and both customized by Pete Carber of CAC (Custom Arms Company), now sadly out of business. Pictures of both can be sen on my web-site. Pete worked under Austin Behlert before going out on his own, and he and I became friends when I lived in PA and still keep in touch. I usually have a Colt Pony or Seecamp in my front pocket as back-up, also customized by him. I am however, currently in the process of getting the parts together for a 1911 CCO for the Yo-Bo crew to work their magic on.

On duty by department regs I am limited to any make of Sig (GSR not included) so it's a P220 finished in Robar NP3 and equipped with a Surefire Nitrolon light.

My "go to gun". Well, you didn't specify handgun, and it's not.
It's an Eo-Tech and Sure-Fire equipped Colt M4 loaded with 70 grain Hornady TAP ammo.

Lester,
Check your PM ref: your holster order.

Man, the way you worded the question it seems I'd have to be pretty damn egotistical to answer but I assume you were just being kind so..........

Forty some odd years ago, my dad taught me to shoot a handgun. It was a 1911 that he used to save his behind after being shot down over China in 1945. I don't know if I do it for that reason or because I just like a 1911 pattern pistol. In any event, I tried other handguns during my years in LE but always retuned to the 1911. In those years, I normally carried a Govt or a Lt Wt Commander with a cut down K-frame or a J-frame as a second gun.

These days, I either carry a 1911 5 inch or 4.25 inch because I never really warmed up to the smaller ones or, on those days when my back reminds me of the foolishness of my youth, a J- frame. I usually have my Seecamp on me somewhere too. And, I work hard to be polite to everyone so I don't need to use any of them :D

Hey Josh:
Nice gun and holster!!

Damn Josh! That's a reasonably nice looking setup. The holster is georgeous, as I would expect from you. Did you build the gun yourself? If so, how did you decide which way to make your living... Leather or steel?

Ouch.

I didn't do the scallops. Heinie did them. Didn't have the right table to do them when I was building that gun. I whittled the rest out during free time, of which I have none. Took a year to get around to finishing everything.

I wouldn't have the patience to build guns. I don't like stuff sitting around the shop that long. Plus, the smiths here do such beautiful work, what would be the point.

WOW Josh!!!!

I guest you're next on my list for OM. Are you taking orders?

Matt,
I always have wondered what you carried.

The holster makers know more gunsmiths than I will ever know and can get whatever they want.

Thanks and take care.

NO THANKS. I'll stick to holsters. Get one of the gunsmiths on here to build you an OM. You won't be disappointed. LTW has the best group of smiths, period. I just make comfy homes for their steel :P

Nice blaster, Josh!
I would think building pistols would be more lucarative. If I had that kind of capability I don't think I'd be playing with dead animal skins.

Nice holster, too! I like that you dyed the interior.

Mark, I tint everything. I hate "natural" leather. Plus, if it is tinted, it doesn't darken and get crappy looking after a gun has been in it for a week. I'll stick with holsters. I can get more dead cows out of here in a week than steel. :P

First of all I don't put anything that has fangs dead or alive IMB ( inside my britches), and I could never have a rig that purdy b/c they would arrest me and take my CCW away for FLASHING everyone I see. I just couldn't conceal something that spectacular! Wow, is that gator belly? what part of the toothy critter do y'all use for holsters?

That is the belly, and from the looks of it, about a $1000 worth for the whole set up - his cost, not yours  .

Yes, it is the belly. You can get gator and croc cut down the spine or down the belly. That was a huge gator. John, it was a wild gator, not from Fong.
