Hi, I have been E-Mailing and talking to Mr.Yost about ordering two of his FULL HOUSE COLTS. He has been nothing short of spectactular and is willing to work with the customer anyway he can. He has saved a space for me for my BABIES. I cannot wait to see what PERFECTION looks like. Hope I am not putting to much pressure on him :D Right now I own a Les Baer SRP, a Ed Brown class a limited, and a Wilson Combat CQB. I can"t wait to see what a real gun looks and feels like, not knocking any of my guns but from everthing I have heard or read there is nothing like a true custom made gun, especially from TED YOST. THANK YOU Mr.Yost

You're not putting any pressure on Ted. Actually, the pressure will be on you when you have to decide how to 'dispose' of your 'production customs'.

You'll find that they're pretty substandard once you've got you hands on a 'true custom'.

Good choice having Ted build you one. Oh, and welcome to the club.

Cheers, Tim

I've got to agree with that. Once you go up you'll find it is hard to come back down and the Wilson's, Brown's, and Baer's just won't seem as good as they used to be.

Funny thing. It used to be my goal to own a Wilson, Brown, etc. Now that I've got several of Don Williams' creations, I couldn't care less about owning anything else!

Thank you C T, I have been thinking about a TRUE CUSTOM for a while now. I have been shooting guns for a long long time now and I have progressed to the point that every gun I want now has to be custom. My dad had taught me early in life about owning and shooting QUALITY guns. All his guns where either weatherbys or brownings or remingtons. This is also why I think that I have this problem, every other day I find myself either cleaning, holding or just playing with my gun. I NEED HELP

It is so hard to watch new custom 1911 owners buying their first custom pistols. It is eventually going to be like talking a crack addict off the pipe. :P Once you buy one, just one, whether it be Ted, Ned, Tim, Don, John, Stan, Chuck, or anyone else, you just know they are going to be hooked.

Pretty soon you see posts asking "What is a good base gun?" Then "What should I have done to it?" After a while "I have one from C.T. Brian, one from Yost, another from Ned, and projects out to all of the other smiths in the country. If I had the means I would be in the same boat. Not being able to afford pistolas from all of these guys I asked one to teach me. Unfortunately I still don't have one as nice as they build....but one day.

Ted once told me that the hard part is not making them run, it is everything else that is hard. That is why the best smiths are so good in my opinion. When you see what they are able to do, you know you have something special. JJ, hope to see yours in the shop soon. Knowing what Ted puts into these you won't be dissapointed. Good luck. If you think of it ask Ted to build you a Marilyn Monroe custom engraved Jennings...they are beautiful.

Ain't that the fact. Soon, you'll be selling off all of you other guns. Working tons of overtime. Arrangin FEDEX shipments for those times your wife isn't home.....

Hello........ My name is Jeff and I am a 1911 addict!!!!!

But I can quit on my own anytime I want........   Oh yah..... right!!!

Just when I am so sure I am on top of it and have it under control, I am ordering another 1911 or "talking" to another gunsmith. I NEED HELP!!

I think a lot of the wives and girlfriends out there would gladly contribute to a 12-step program for 1911 addicts!!!!!

Best to all,
Jeffro (Jeff)

I think we need a support group. Wait... is that what this is? But it don't hear anyone telling me how to break the cycle. Oh well.

I just sold another sporting shotgun on monday to buy a base gun. I'm so ashamed.

Your production guns will never be more than they are....someone's idea of what you should buy. A custom gun, one that is made for you is truly one of a kind.

We have devoted customers who have brought their production guns to us for personal makeovers simply because the guns as they stood were just not "theirs", they wanted "their" gun, something unique. The gun does not always need to be a real eye catcher but it does have to run everytime it's called upon to do so. We even cater to a small cadre of cops who are among the "informed" which is not the norm as we all know. But I digress....

Guns don't need to need to be beautiful, eyecatching or even reach the 10+ WOW factor in appeal but they do need to satisfy their owners. We have a very loyal IDPA shooter who has two of our guns among others we've worked on, both are different brands but they shoot exactly the same. He is a very happy man. He has been known to change guns in the middle of an important match just for the fun of it just to shoot both guns in the match and still win his division.

On a personal note, my "old favorite and trusted friend" is a custom Norinco I'd carry through the blackest night in hell for it's reliability if need be.

You pay your $$ and take your chances but custom makers stake their reputations in their hands/skills/knowledge/you, the customer seriouisly

I have an early Novak gun, a couple from Chuck Rogers, and one from John Harrison. And one of the things that will probably happen is that over the years (and it may take years to obtain customized guns from the smiths on this forum) your taste in guns will change. Maybe from a full-house with all the bells and whistles to one of the great retro guns we've seen. Or vice-versa. But you'll always want another one, and another one, and....

It is amazing because my first gun was a beretta 96, then I went to a glock 21, from there it was a SIG SAUER p220. I do have to say that SIG makes one hell of a pistol.

Then I got the 1911 BUG. I wanted a single action shooter, so I got a WILSON CQB. It is a sweet gun, BUT.
Then I bought a LES BAER SRP, wow very nice and accurate, BUT.
So my last gun I bought was an ED BROWN Class A Limited, it was the best of all three.

"But it still is not enough", so JAN,2005 I will be sending money to MR.YOST and he is going to build me 2 of his FULL HOUSE COLTS. The wait will be TORTURE.
