Can anyone give me some insight on the Unertl Ordanace MEUSOC 1911? I have seen some pics but have not heard anything Good Or Bad about them. I have seen some poping up for sale on the web and all I know is they seem a little steep in price for a production "Custom" gun. Does anyone know who is building them (who make the frames slide barrels etc) and if the small parts are MIM or Barstock?

Thanks In advance
Kendall

I tested one for my book, and was quite impressed by it. If you're looking for somehting ready to go, and don't plan improvements, it would be a good choice. But if you plan to upgrade, you'll be buying things you'll be removing, like the finish.

As every parts was given a bake-on finihs, I don't know if it was forged or MIM, but that isn't somehting I pay much attention to.

With an MSRP of $2795 I don't know how many of these will get sold.

I am sure one of the smiths here could whip up a pretty nice gun for that much money and it would be a custom gun.

I can't tell you about the small parts but can tell you that the frame and slide are made by Caspian. I haven't had a chance to shoot one but the samples I saw at SHOT looked pretty darn good!

Were you to go with a Kimber or Springfield Armory, you'd get every bit as much gun, for hundreds less. Look at the LAPD Swat gun.

Hopefully not many. You could do alot better with a SA Mil-Spec on a wait list from any reputable smith and be much happier.
