I was wondering whos work you guys liked growing up and whos style you followed while becoming the great smiths in your field. I know everyone has there own style but what smiths helped make your decision on doing what you do now and if you had 3 choices on carring a gun from another builder which ones would you bet your life on.

Austin Behlert, bless 'im. Major influence for me.

As to whose gun I'd carry, that's a tough one. Anyone here and plenty more, I mean it ain't like there aren't plenty of good smiths outside of LTW. The main thing, I would abide by the words of The Great Communicator, "trust, but verify", that is, I'd test the heck out of it first!

Influences - Jim Hoag and later Steve Nastoff.

After a few minutes of reflection, Richard Heinie and Tim Brian have also inspired.

I would have no trouble carrying a piece that ANY of the smiths here at LTW built. Each has their own separate style that no one else could copy or duplicate. As it should be. If you take the time to study the work of any master smith, you'll find the nuances that he or she deems important to their individual statement.

That said, the person who most influenced my work was a man you've never heard of. His name isn't important here, but he was my mentor, and later my friend. He built Schuetzen rifles, and took me under his wing to (try) and teach me his German precision. He drilled into my (thick) skull that, "Excellence is the standard. Anything less is substandard."
