Here are some shots of a Colt Chuck and I did for forum member deltaopwong. He hasn't seen his pistol yet, so you guys are getting a peek before he does. I'll get it in the mail to him within the next few months so he can have it under his tree for Christmas...
next year.:p
Chuck did the machining at the owner's request, and it's perfect - a great job. Heck, 'bout all I had to do after that was a little reliability work, fit a barrel, put it together, and kick it out the door.
Greider solid trigger, McCormick mag catch and grip safety, EGW slide stop, and a Brown thumb safety - reprofiled. The finish is Enviro-Tech over Mil-Spec Parkerizing.
The Heinie rear sight is dehorned and the ejection port flared and blended. Chuck high cut and serrated the front strap at 20LPI, machined the front grasping grooves, and "ball cut" the recoil spring tunnel.
Chuck serrated the mainspring housing to match the front strap and cut in a flush lanyard loop.
The slide top is flattened and serrated in an arrowhead pattern. A Kart barrel was fit and the ejection port edges were softened.
The barrel is recrowned at 45 degrees, the EGW bushing is recontoured, and the front sight has been profiled and hand serrated at 40 LPI.
The pistol has Cylinder & Slide trigger components and the 80 series parts were retimed. Trigger pull is set at at 4 pounds.
Dehorned for carry...
The magwell got a "subtle", hand filed bevel. The lanyard loop edges were softened to protect the heel of the hand during mag changes.
Hope you enjoyed the photos. Please don't tell deltaopwong his pistol is smeared all over the internet! Thanks for looking.
Best wishes,
Bob
