I have a Les Baer S.R.P. It is my primary off duty carry. What would you custom smith's do with it if it was YOUR carry gun? Thanks in advance Mike

ps please don't tell me to sell it! lol

Personally, I'm a big fan of Les Baer 1911s. You've got a fine weapon to carry.

Assuming it functioned fine to start with.....

If it were my gun, I'd go for the Yobo professional rear sight. That hooked style really helps with one handed malfunction drills. I also prefer a serrated/flat rear sight. You can get it with your choice of two or one dot tritium inserts. I'd probably also pickup some Tripp Research Cobra Mags.

Much more than that, I'd say spend your money on more training.

While I'm not a custom smith, I would:

1. Replace the sights (I like Heinie's, but that's just me).
2. Maybe a better dehorn job (don't know about your model).
3a. Assuming it runs 100%, you can press-check it, and operate it 1-handed, etc. I would buy a bunch of Tripp or CMC power mags and shoot the heck out of it. Then shoot it some more.
3b. Otherwise, it gets sent to someone until it does those things. While they had it, I would ask that the internals be setup more conventionally, too. Then repeat step 3a.
4. I also had the barrel on mine cut flush and recrowned, but that was just cosmetic.

Enjoy your pistol, it should be around for a long time.

Steve
