I had a nrm Colt 1991A1 and had Yost-Bonitz do some work on it. It's very nice now. I love the 30 lpi checkering. The retro rear sight opened to 0.14" with the gold inlay front is about as good a sight as I've ever encountered and I've used fiber optics sights in USPSA. Didn't take that long to do either.

" I love 30lpi checkering"

I pretty much agree with you there. It it is by far my favorite fronstrap treatment. I think that is what I will always have done on my guns, although I have yet to hold a 1911 with the newer treatments like scallops.

Something must be wrong. I can't find the lousy pictures you warned against. The ones you posted are quite nice. Great looking gun too. Dave

These pics aren't too bad, but my phot skills still suck and they don't approach the tru beauty of the gun. Of course, to get the real feelling you have to hold it. :D

Eager,
What all did you have them do other than the sights.

Looks good by the way.

I don't have the list in front of my, but from memory:
Yost-Bonitz fire control parts (hammer and sear), good hard steel ~4 lb trigger action job
I forget who's beavertail they used, but it's good
extended thumbsafety (I might have sent an Ed Brown)
Burns Hard Use trigger (I like it 'cause it's solid and has no overtravel hole in the face which annoys my finger), although I find even the serrations a bit too sharp (I'm a sensitive finger guy) :?
Fitted barrel bushing
30 lpi checkering on front strap and on the Yo-Bo MSH with lanyard
beveled magwell
reliablity package e.g. polished feed ramp
Wilson Bullet proof extractor
I can't recall if I sent a Brown FP stop
Brown extended mag catch
de horn
Polished slide flats
I asked for good black synthetic grips (they're choice). They gave me the VZ canvas micartas shown which I'm really happy with.
I put a Wilson bullet proof slide stop on it myself

I probably forgot something but that's all I can think of now.

I'm really happy with it. The best features are:

It's a nrm Colt that was good to begin with. I like Colts really sharp cocking serrations, It feels better than other 1911s, I'm not sure why, but I think Colt's grip is a little different.

The action is like oiled glass.
The sights are really good and work as good or better than anything I've ever used and the gold picks up light well.
The 30 lpi is my favorite grip treatment.

In parallel with this gun Yost-Bonitx did a SA GI 1911 with a mod package similar to the 1* enhanced but with some differences. It's very nice too but not quite as good as this Colt. I'ts really nice to have two great 1911s. I'll post pics of the SA in another post.

Looks really nice and if that is a bad pic then that just means the pistol looks that much better.
