On a 5 inch Goverment model how often would you suggest replacing the recoil springs? The ammunition used is standard velocity hardball. Would you suggest bumping up from the 16 pound factory to 18 1/2 pound springs?

Thanks

I replace mine every 1,000 to 1,500 rounds and no I would not go up in weight unless I had a very good reason. Heavy weight springs also close the slide with more force, forcing the muzzle to drop below the target so recovery time can be longer.
