It really eliminated the grip safety.

Interesting... I really want to have a custom built with one IF Novak will allow another well known smith to install it...

Many say its an answer to a question that was never asked.

I am intrigued and being the idiot I am the only way I can really test it is to have a frame up custom built with it by one of the LTW smiths hahahaha

I have issues!

Just my opinion - but if you have problems with activating the grip safety, then this would certainly fix it. Pinning the grip safety on your own 1911, some say, may cause you problems in court if you ever have to use your gun. Is it possible that buying a finished pistol with the Answer from Novak's as an off-the-shelf product might negate the argument in court? The argument being that the user purposely disabled a safety device in the pistol - whether or not the disabling of the grip safety had anything to do with the shoot. I have no idea either way but I'd be interested to hear what others say. :)

I hope it's all right to post this link. This is an article I was led to by my boss that was written in Guns and Ammo magazine:

http://www.gunsandammomag.com/ga_handguns/novak_081406/

The article gives a bit of insight into the design of Novak's "The Answer".

I think the answer is definitely the "answer" to a lot of problems. It is not however a new concept. In the mid eighties, a company called Arminex produced a one-piece replacement backstrap for the 1911 that was essentially the same thing except it was a drop-in part that didn't have a beavertail.

One of my main missions at the last SHOT show was to get w/ Novak and have one installed on a stainless Gov't Model. But, when I heard the cost of the part and installation was $450, I decided not to ask the "question."
