Happily received a package from the fed ex guy today! My combat commander made it back from Yost-Bonitz after receiving the 1* elite treatment. For those that are not familiar with the specs, check here. In addition to the standard specs there were a few additional things added in. The frame/slide fit was too far out of spec, so the frame rails had to be welded and recut. I had them add in a Kart NM barrel, Novak 3 dot tritium sights, S&A MSH/magwell, chamfer slide stop hole, flatten end of slide stop. I have not had a chance to shoot her yet, but that is coming this weekend. My impressions of the fit/finish of the gun are just WOW! The slide/frame fit is excellent, not a bit of lateral play. The beavertail fit is outstanding. The barrel bushing is very tight. The MSH/magwell fit is also outstanding. Everyone I spoke to on the phone and via email at the shop was very helpful and friendly. I spent quite a bit of time talking to Jason, Lew, and Tim. They always made me feel like I was the only customer, never rushed off the phone. All in all, I couldn't be happier with the craftsmanship that went into this gun. Im sure it will shoot as good as I can hold it and can't wait to take it for a drive! Ok, now for the fun stuff! I snapped a few pics for everyone :)

That is sweet.... I have a Series 70 Government that I'm sending off in the very near future, to have the 1* Elite Package done.. I was extremely impressed with my Series 80 SS Commander 1* Enhanced... Looking forward to your Range Report...

The leather is from Eric Larsen of HBE leatherworks. More pics of it here: http://www.louderthanwords.us/forum/vie ... php?t=4861

It really needs to be stored out of harms way at my place with me guarding it.

P.S. It is a very fine looking pistol.

I just wanted to post a quick range report. I have had the gun out to the range twice and just shot an IDPA match yesterday. The first trip to the range I put 100 rounds through her. I had a few FTRTB, which I am now blaming on the crap ammo that the range has. The second trip I bought some decent ammo to run through her. I put 100 rounds downrange without any problems at all. Accuracy is as good as I can hold. After the session I field stripped the gun and cleaned it up, and took apart the mags for cleaning and lube. Yesterday I took it to my first IDPA match in probably 5 years or so. I am happy to report that the gun ran flawlessly! After the match was over there were a few folks that stuck around to get a better look at the 1*. I was happy to let them shoot a few stages of fire with her. They were impressed, I was impressed....it was a good day!

Stay safe, shoot straight!
