A compact 45 package with a welded-on Heinie magwell. This pistol started out as a basic GI Micro.

I've always read and heard that these small 1911 style pistols are not always reliable. Obviously this one won't be that way, but why are they less reliable that the full size 1911's?

BEAUTIFUL STUFF....

Hi Nalajr. Because of the swift, short cycle and heavy recoil springs of large caliber compact pistols, it becomes especially important to maintain a secure hold on the pistol in order to ensure complete cycling. An insecure grip, or “limp-wristing” a compact pistol during firing can essentially absorb much of that critical momentum necessary to completely cycle the slide. For this reason, compacts aren’t always as forgiving as mid or full-sized semi-autos - often earning them an unwarranted “bad name” in the reliability department. A well-tuned compact pistol in experienced hands is quite functionally reliable. Thanks for the compliment!

Are they more sensitive to recoil spring replacements too?

Looks very nice, Rob. IF I get one of those here again I think a flat recoil spring setup might be worth a try just to try and extend spring life.

I like it... lots but how does the Micro differ from SA EMP?

Rob, very nice. What's the finish on the frame?

The Micro Compact has a steel frame and I believe the grip is slightly longer, front-to-back, than an EMP.

Thanks, Ned. The reverse plugs used on the Micro's are shallow (0.470"). Even with flat wires, a single recoil spring quickly runs out of room. It would definitely be worth trying, however. The dual-stage, round-wire recoil system works well, but does tax the primary spring.

Thanks. The finish on the frame is a soft frosted hot salt blue.
