Stan, glad to see you mention Bob Miller of Miller Custom Guns. He has a Delta Elite of mine and I have been very encouraged by the discussions we have had. I judge him to be very knowledgeable and easy to deal with as well as accommodating.

+1 I have a gun he's doing and will be getting it ahead of schedule even though Bob is carrying a full load of semester hours during the week. He's going to be a very busy gunsmith with his ability and personality. I can be a real PITA when it comes to details and Bob was super accomodating and helpful

And I thought I was the only PITA. Glad to hear I'm not alone. I've lost count of the pictures I've sent with my suggestions.

I remember a thread I saw some years back-- by a guy who was, I guess you could say, lesser known.... showing some really fine work on a stainless Officers. They were some pics that made me stop and study..... I could see the guy "had it".

Stan something. Something Chinese, like Chin, Chan, Chang, not sure..... 8)

Jo, are you not doing some smithing? Or did I misunderstand?

Also, how about another BC Canadian, Gunnar Christensen, do you know of him? armco-guns.com?

I am filin' and grindin' Ned. Finally managed to get one of my own Colts on the table! :D Been trying to get some hang gliding in too, it's how I relax, but was only able to take pictures today. These were takin' today at around 1:30. My wife and I went to Savona for the hang gliding Easter Meet, but it was cancelled there and ended up in our own backyard (so to speak) in Kamloops, B.C. :D

I know Gunnar very well, although I haven't had the opportunity to speak with him lately. He's been EXTREMELY busy trying to catch up on his build orders! He's mentioned wanting to finish things up soon and possibly hang up his apron. :( That is going to be an extremely sad day! I wanted to stop in and see him the last time I was through Prince George, but as things usually go, I was limited to how much time I had. Hopefully with the Spring/Summer hang gliding season about to really pick up, my travels might get me to Gunnar's shop! He's done so much work for me earlier on that I feel I must pay homage to "The Man"! 8)

I have to second Oscar Dieguez's recommendation of Dave Erickson of Condition One Pistolsmithing. Dave built my badly abused Combat Commander into what I consider to be a functional work of art. He is a true one man shop, as he is his only employee. He builds to the customer's exact specifications. From the initial consultation until the package ships, he'll be communicating with the customer about the project's progress. Sure he'll opine about what he thinks will work or look better than what you had in mind, but in the end, the customer is always right - that's Dave's philosophy. But make no mistake, he won't let it off his bench if it isn't perfect in function and form. Check out http://www.conditionone.us for a look at a the works of a true burgeoning artisan.

I'm going to nominate my good friend, Barry Greyson (bgj-11 here on LTW). He's one of the best-kept secrets in the biz, in my opinion. He shares a love of the craft and the design, and is just a great guy, too. He's always been helpful and patient with my dumb questions, as have all of the 'smiths I've corresponded with here.

YES, Barry! Great looking pistols; he goes to great lengths to tailor to the the pistol to the customer's needs. And if you haven't heard a good dentist joke lately, give him a call!

Stan, thanks for the kind words on Page 1. By the way, your mainspring housings are everthing they could be and more. Thank you very, very much for getting them out to me. Absolutely perfect fit - like I expected any less. I hope things are settling down and getting a little easier on your end.

Ned, I appreciated our conversation the other day. I look forward to the next one. Keep up the good work and may the grinding dust fly.

6285108 - I'm finishing up some pistols that need sent out for chrome today, and have to assemble a bunch that I blued last Sunday, and if the weather holds out, I'll be shooting them and tuning so I can get them to their owners. Your pistol is next in line and I'll be getting into it soon. It will still be a little bit. I have another 5 weeks of school before I'm done for the semester. I've already started on yours while filling in time on the bench, but still have a little ways to go. I hope to have a real nice dent in it before finals. I most likely won't be going home the weekends before finals week to meet with study groups and prepare.

Trumpet - I sent you a PM over on Arfcom, and you already got your update...I will be stopping at the machine shop to check on your frontstrap.

Marsh - Trumpet and 6285108 are the only two ahead of you besides the finished guns, and I'll be getting to yours soon as well.

Thank you all for the kind words and promising feedback. I do feel like a pretty overworked individual between full time engineering classes, customer service, and time on my bench - but it sure beats sitting on my rear waiting for something to happen.

Take care everybody, I may have some pictures posted on my site on the progress this weekend. Check on Monday if you care to.

Bob

Matt Davis is a young man who has been working with Richard Hienie for several years and does very nice work. Nice enough for Dick and that says a lot.
