Very cool catalog. I have what must be an earlier version - no compensator shown.

Hoag was one of those who inspired me in my early efforts. Still does today.

Jeez, I forgot all about this one.

Hoag gun that was sent to me in 2006 shortly after Jim customized it for a guy. He had me change a few things, add a few things.

Here's another from the late 80's or early 90's's, forged out.

Old thread, yes, but I think this is where this belongs 'cause what's the point of having several posts about squared TG's....?

Some square trigger guard goings on here, during the last week.
The piece to weld in. I’ve used a variety of things…. mild steel works but I kinda like matching steels and when I can use something “different” that’s a plus. This time it’s a piece of Douglas barrel blank so I know it’s proper chrome-moly gun metal. Cut a disk from the barrel, square it up, put a square hole in it with the corner radius I want, use a 15 degree cutter to get it kinda roughed in for subsequent matching to the original TG surfaces.

Almost ready to weld but still need generous chamfering at the joints for good weld penetration.

Laser welded. I have a new guy and he’s pretty sharp.

Getting there, still some final stoning to do.

That's some cool work. Interesting cuts on the front of the slide in that last photo. The "elevation adjustable round post front sight" is kind retro cool, too, although you could have gotten it just a little closer to the muzzle.

Now that really ROCKs. I also am a fan of the squared trigger guard. That is a lot of work and with the way you welded on the metal that must really make or enhance the strength of the guard.

Thanks guys. BBBBill, you see all.... That screw is, um, well it might look like a 3-48 tapped into the slide but it's really a 10-32 laying on the mill table.... yup, that's it......

I still love doing squared guards... this is one in the works on a long-term project, still have to checker it and clean up the lines.

I tried the "heat and bend" exactly I time, and quickly resorted to the cut and weld method for the two or three I've done. It ain't as easy as it might seem.
