Photo of the day... this is a good example to answer the question of “why does it take so long”. The before pictures show machine marks and odd edge breaks that were left in the slide during manufacturing. These marks could have been left on the slide without any adverse effect on the function of the gun and sometimes you can work around or eliminate things like this via the de-horn and it may have even looked "okay" to the casual observer. However, these particular marks not only remained after media blasting but also had to be corrected in order to get an even beveled de-horn around the edges of the slide. So they gotta be filed and sanded out before the de-horn and without completely changing the existing slide contours and stirrup cuts... all of that equals time.

Photo of the day... I generally save the dehorning of the frame and slide until the gun has been thoroughly tested and I’m done with most everything else. For me the dehorn needs to completely functional but also visual, like a frame around a painting. The edges of the beavertail as seen here are just one of the many areas that get addresses as part of the dehorn.

Going taller/wider? Smaller caliber type ejector or somewhere in between that and a 45?

Cleaning up the existing ejector slot to insure it is parallel with the slide raceways as well as making the slot taller and wider to insure optimal case contact.

Photo of the day... a bit of checkering 101, sometimes new files aren’t useable. The teeth on the file need to run straight and the top two photos show two different files (one being worse than the other) that both have lines that do not run parallel to the file, not worth trying to use these. The bottom photo shows a good file, one I have used many times.
