Saw this gun this morning and was curious about why you would remove the bottom half of the cocking serrations on the rear of the slide?

Does it have to do with protecting the hand from a high thumb hold grip?

if so, wouldn't you need HUGE thumbs?

Interesting pic  . I've seen other guns modified for a high thumb hold, but never that much removed. Incidently, the guy did not have huge thumbs, but a death grip in his gun and a high hold that ate his thumb nuckle. Chuck Rogers did it and it was on just one side. It was nicely done, as you'd expect from Chuck, and the shooter loved it.

I have thought about it in the past as the inside of my right thumb gets rubbed by the serations during the cycling of the slide.

I have never really thought about removing the serations... but I did wonder if anyone else experienced the same rubbing...
