This has been a great year for both the smiths and adminstrators at LTW. Besides the opportunity to build guns together we talk more, share ideas, resources, and the everyday grind of turning out the best guns we can.

The coolest thing for me iswhen I get my hands on one of the guns built by any of the smiths here at LTW it is nice to just sit back and take a look at what is being done and how. In fact I just saw a gun done by Ned Christiansen in our shop yesterday and my initial emotion was grief since I could not figure out how he did to the metal what he did. I hope I get that gun in front of the old Polaroid.

The gun pictured below is the last LTW Team gun of 2005. This one started out as a NRM Series 80 .45 ACP. It still is that with a few masterful tweaks by Stan Chen, John Harrison, and Don Williams. When it got to the shop for a hot bath we all knew they had hit this one out of the park. Yep, that is the factory barrel. It locks up perfectly and either Stan or John put a polished swimming pool in the muzzle....a beautiful polished crown. Both the metal and hand work exemplfies the talent, and time these smith put into their guns.

These guns are unique because the smiths that worked together in '05 will probably not work together in '06. But how about a gun by C.T and Ned next year or Ted and Chuck?

Happy Holidays to all.

Another gorgeous gun!! I wish I could afford to buy them all. It is always with some trepidation that I read about those that complain about the number of 1911s that are depicted in any given publication, but they are like snowflakes; everyone different in its intricacies, details, and beauty. How I would love to own that one. Great work by everyone involved!!

That's just sick. Sick in the best possible way imagineable. I want one. Will you take my left one for it?

Thanks for sharing, fellas. Great pics, Steve.

GOD Bless you all and have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

The way I understand it. Stan did the lower and John did the slide. DW did the rest. We did a frame and slide tightening at the shop. Just for the record I did the slide stop. :P

That means on my resume I can say I worked with Stan Chen and John Harrison right?

They did an impeccable job. I have to test fire a couple next week. This one might end up in the pile. I will let you all know how it did.

John hit it right on the head! The "snowflake " comparison is perfect.

Nice work guys!!

Stan, John, and Don - Beautiful collaboration. You make my job fun. You can't imagine the anticipation of seeing the stuff that's going to come out of some of the boxes that we have delivered to the shop. It's like Christmas, and no I won't shoot my eye out

My job in this case is handling the easy stuff after these guys work their magic. I marvel at the precision of Stan's machine work, the imagination John Harrison put into the top end, and the thoughtful hand work Don did on that absolutely beautiful mag well.

The best part is....

I got to see it NAKED!!

Thanks for the opportunity, guys, and thanks for all you do for LTW. It doesn't go unnoticed or unappreciated. This pistol is going to make it's new owner very happy. Be Proud - ya done good.

Got my dinero ready to send in for the winning ticket-Y'all just send in your donations.
If I'm still 3 years out on Stan's list, maybe I can sneak this one in to tide me over.
An absolute superb example of the LTW smiths production and talent.

The magwell looks like it was created by sprinkling Miaracle Grow on the frame.... I mean it looks like one piece with the frame, ain't there supposed to be a line or sumpin' ? Very nice work guys, it looks great from every angle!

As a Gemologist, I look a stone as it comes from the ground and its called a "rough". I visualize what that cut/finished gemstone will look like when all is said and done. Just like when one of the 'smiths here gets that base pistol and visualizes what the final outcome will look like.
WHAT A GEM!

Does that grip safety even move? Is that the new "self cleaning" muzzle crown? Deep borders on either side of the top serrations? Are you kidding me?

That gun is absolutely awesome! I swear, I would bust my hump trying to wear every spot of blue off that bad boy!!! Is it just me, or can everyone else picture the smiles on the artisans' faces as this piece was being built? Those boys had fun, it is plain to see.

After not having had a chance to drop into this forum for a while, thought I'd stop in before the turkey day festivities....what a welcome surprise! It's been a while since this one was in the shop and I just sorta forgot about it.

As said before, it truly is such a honor and just plain cool thing to be able to collaborate with such fine craftsmen. We have a turkey day tradition of going around the table and saying what we're thankful for...these opportunities are near the top of the list.

I was hoping John would do his bordered flat top slide, as I've admired this touch on his pistols for quite some time, and he did not disappoint! I consider this a Harrison trademark, and to me it just ooozes coolness in a very classy way. I really like how the slide is finished out with the clean edge breaks and all.

And like Ned, I wanna know where in the heck the seam in the mag well went, Don! It must have been masterfully TIG'd all around and then finished out....beautiful. That grip safety is fit so tight it looks TIG'd on as well. Great job on all those little finish details that seem to take forever, but make the whole pistol come together.

Steve thanks for the finish work, adding the shweet slide stop mod and taking the pics. The guys bringing it all together in the end never gets enough credit!

Perhaps we should put together a build list for the new owner, with who did what, just for documentation/posterity? I'll start...

Chen:
Scallop and high cut frontstrap
Flush cut and scallop mainspring housing
Machine front cocking serrations
Machine french border
Match fit barrel bushing, turn barrel
Flush cut and deep crown muzzle
Custom fabricate mainspring housing for magwell

I hope this pistol will give a lifetime of enjoyment for its new owner!

Happy Thanksgiving all.... :D

yada, yada

No wonder I'm 3+ years out on a build, you're basking in the adulation and surfing the 'net......

Seriously, an absolute masterful work by all.

Happy Thanksgiving all
Now Stan, have your turkey sandwich and get back to work!

I am thankful to be able to view/help the efforts this board has undertaken

Happy Thanksgiving all

What a beauty. Very nice execution by one and all.

I can't believe this one hasn't been snatched up already! Somebody is about to become the proud owner of a smokin' deal.

I think this may another one that I'll keep coming back here to look at....and always find something I didn't see before.
There are just too many details to catch the first time.

This is one of those guns that has more things done to it than I can count.
BUT...
It still looks clean. It looks right.

I could never guess that 1,000 things could be done to one gun without junking it up. It appears there is not one part that is untouched. But (again) it looks "right".
And pulling that off is the greatest talent to me.

T'would appear I needn't have written that. Guess it didn't make it through the day. Nice buy, Kevin.
