I have a custom browning hi power that was built about 6 years ago. I love the gun and consistantly make one ragged hole with it but after long pieriods of shooting my hand hurts. I am a 1911 shooter and have a high hand hold with my thumb on the safety. Now the problem is that the frame digs into the web of my thumb. The frame under the hammer has been slightly melted or rounded but it still digs. I am thinking of sending the gun back and having some changes done. I have been thinking of taking off the Novak night sights and going to Heine night sights, Beaver tail welded on, commander hammer, mine doesnt bite me since it was reduced but I like the looks better, and hard chrome. What do you guys think. I will try to figure out how to post a picture. By the way, I also think I would like to have the slide to frame fit a little tighter, it isnt sloppy but I was hoping that the hard chrome would tighten it up enough. I had the spec ops package done.

Sir:

I am certain someone out there will have better information than I but on changing sights there may be some proprietory issues if you send back to Novak for another makers sights. I know that for fact with at least three of the .45 shops.

On the frame tightening I have heard, NOT confirmed, that with the style of action i.e. cam action or whatever it is called as the lever or cam in the slide that depresses the sear can be affected by slide to frame tightening.

Again one of the real gun smiths not a third hand party such as I could clear that up.

Best in your quest.

Thanks for the advice Terry, your advice about 9 months ago is what made me lean towards buying the Wilson CQB. As always you give great advice. I talked to the guys at Novaks and they wont put the other sights on but we are talking about some other changes. Thanks again
