After reviwing custom gunsmithing from some very talented craftsman,
I have placed my name on Ned Christiansen's list for a full custom 1911.
I have a 1967 WWI comemrative I recieved from the widow of a good friend and have been trying to decide what to do with it, sort of a tribute project. After reviewing Ned's work, I decided he was the man. My friend was the kind of guy who turned his own rifle barrels, and could not leave anything alone. He was an inavator of sorts, so I thought it was fitting that the work be done by the same sort of guy.
Now, nothing to do but wait...........

By the way, great forum!

Happy to have you on the list, NN. For some reason I have a disproportional number of clients from CA. Probably just that there are an awful lot of shooters there, despite the state G making it as hard as they can on youse guys. Hats off to you all for sticking with it.

Nick,
I have seen enough of Ned's work to guarantee it will be the finest gun you own. Plus Ned is a half decent guy if he hasn't been drinkin' too much. :P :P :P

Oh yeah. One little slip on one customer's gun and now there's a problem. I told you already, Bailey, your 1911 in 8mm Nambu caliber will be a collector's item some day....

NapaNick,

PLEASE don't call Ned Mr. Christiansen. You go doing that and he will be having us all calling him the Great and Wonderful OZ

Ned already has the ego of a Bull amongst 500 Heifers,

Now that is not saying he doesn't deserve it but, He has a hard time when he is trying to work in his gun-shop with his head all swelled up.

ONE OF NED'S TRUE AND LOYAL SERVANTS

Gary Morris

Ned,
What does your wait-list look like these days?
I have another couple of crazy ideas I would like to see in steel ( or aluminum, or titanium:) ) and I know you are the man to make it happen.
Thanks,
Keith

I was added (last week) to his list.
For a complete build it was 4 - 5 Years.

It was 12-14 months for small work like trigger jobs.

Mr. Morris,

Since the wait for work in MR. CHRISTIANSEN'S shop is so long, I was told there were things I could do to move my way up th list, such as refering to him as MR. CHRISIANSEN OR YOUR EMINANCE. I have paid the $1,000 list fee, sent pictures of my wife, and purchased the required 100 LTW raffle tickets in his name. That is why I have been given a PLATNUM waiting number! Call him what you like, but for my money.........its MR. CHRISTIANSEN thank you very much.

I am glad to say I am now on his list as well.
I am just still kicking myself in the arse that I did not call him over a year ago when I first met him during our Pat Rogers class together.
I know it will be a long wait but in the end from everything I have seen and heard it will be well worth it.

All Hail Ned!!! hahaha ok we will leave it there as I dont want to risk the head getting so swollen it burst in the shop or starts knocking over the machines.

In all seriousness though Ned is really a great guy (as it seems everyone already knows). I was in this class where I knew nothing and my LMT MRP kept screwing up. Ned was always taking a minute to give me some advice and would look at my MRP whenever we had a free minute, heck he even gave me a pair of glasses to use when my eye protection vanished in thin air.

I've heard that for every bottle of Grey Goose vodka that you donate to Ned's 'martini fund', it knocks a year off your wait.............

Don't know if it's actually true or not, just something that a short balding Chinese guy by the name of Chen mentioned one day in passing.........

Well, with Grey Goose-to-Stoli quality correction factor of 0.8 or so, I think I can get my 2009 Christiansen gun by the end of this holiday season just by abstaining for three days or so..

One case of Grey Goose has been shipped. Does that mean I can have my pistol back before Christmas?

I too got on the 4-5 year "List" last week. It's going to pass very slowly...I seriously would like to be put into an induced coma an woken up when it is done.
