I have a new MKIII, is this a good base gun for a custom build and what are the pros and cons for building on the new MKIII. I am thinking of sending it to the Yo-Bo guys, but having Ned do his Conamyds on the front and back strap.

I'm certainly no expert, but there have been quite a few custom Mark IIIs posted on this site. Sounds like a good plan to me. :D Have fun!

"Everybody" says the MKIII's frames are made of harder steel. I saw the Rockwell figures once but don't recall the numbers now.

I do have a 1972 HiPower and a newer MKIII with similar round counts, and the older one does have a "looser" feel to the frame/slide fit. How much of that was the way the gun started out, I don't know.

Within the last five minutes, I sent a HiPower off to Yost-Bonitz for an SRT pkg and some other additions. It will be my "dream HiPower". I have a few to choose from, but I sent a MKIII.
