Howdy
I have a P35 that I had some silver inlay work done. It was then sent back to the smith and he blued and bead blasted the gun (twice because of errors) and ruined the silver inlay. I have now sent it back to the custom engraver and had it all redone and need to send it back to the smith for bluing. (Unfortunaately I got in bed with this gun builder before I found this sight and its smiths who appear to have great skill and integrity.)

Question: How do I instruct the smith to protect the silver inlay during the bead blasting process?

Also, is a bead blasted blued gun first blued and then bead blasted or the reverse?

I think I would send it to someone else that specialized in finishing. Sounds like this guy only does em one way- blast and blue. A specialist should be able to handle working around engraving and inlays. There are several that post here and other places. Good luck.

My very limited knowledge is that the gun is bead blasted first, the metal needs to be textured and then blued over that.

I agree woth A10ACN that you should try one of the 'smiths here. After all, they are the best the industry has to offer.

OK, can anyone recommend an LTW smith or LTW finish specialist that can do the work. Don't be shy or please PM me.

Recommending one of the smiths here over another would be like trying to recommend Michelangelo over DaVinci.

Mr Worthy has simplified the process into one concise approach. Take his advice. Its priceless yet free.

When you decide to call one or several, you'll find that they are the nicest people you will ever talk to/deal with.

Soryy for my carrying on. I haven't had my coffee yet.
