Last year at this time I figured I was seeing the best Ted and our shop had to offer...I was wrong. The idea for the smiths is doing the next one better than the last. Ted's pair from last year was stunning. The stainless pair this year might get a slight edge.

Here is another stainless gun that Ted has done for the 2006 Shot Show. It started life and an enhanced gun. Move some metal and it becomes one of Ted's traditional show pieces that he is known for.

It is pictured with leather from Josh Bulman which will also be on display at the Shot Show.

This one wears a pair of handmade cocobolo stocks, and polished frame and slide flats...Very classy on a stainless gun.

Enjoy the snaps.

My first post! You got me. I got it. Took me a second, but I got it. That's a good one. As hard as I try and for as popular as they are AND for as long as they've been around I just can't get use to them. But then again it's not my gun, if it were I'd really try to get use to that slant. It's a beautiful pistol though.

Ted did this one up nice. The polish came out perfect. The frame and slide relationship is also one of the best of this years crop.

I actually like the canted cocking serrations. As you notice this was an enhanced gun that usually had the raised rib on the slide...Well in isn't there now...interesting huh?

This might be my favorite gun coming out this year. Or that two tone, or the pair of .38 Supers, etc....

Very well executed, Ted. That piece is going to make some lucky person very happy.

I like it a lot.
I always liked slanted cocking serrations also.

In fact, this gun is like a collection of my favorite things- Slanted serrations, Heinie sights, no disenhanced rib, no FLGR, no-hole trigger...yes, these are a few of my favorite things.

Ted,

After looking at this master piece closely I have decided it would look great next to my Custom Commander.

You can go ahead and display it at Shot Show and then just box it up and I promise to take good care of it.

HELP ME OUT NED. Don't you think this would make a great Michigan pistol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gary

I used to like angled serrations front and rear. Then Burton got a hold of me. Now I like 'em straight up and down, and just in the back.

Somehow though, it looks really good on that pistol...

I know I could get use to the angled serrations too. That pistol has so much but looks so simple. Nothing about it jumps out at you it sort of flows out at you. I recently stippled my front strap on my NRM boy was I taxed after that. It made me appreciate what a master pistolcrafter can do even more.

Steve, what grip safety is used on the pistol?

I didn't get a chance to ask as I was too busy wiping the drool off the display case!

Folks

I personally saw this one at the Shot Show and if I did not have four already due I would add this one to my inventory.

Guys. You seriously need to consider this. The gun is much better in person. I made three trips each day and finally because of two BHP's and another new roll mark series 70, and a WWI Colt full house had to hold off for a while.

Again. Thanks to all of the folks at the LTW booth for making the Shot Show a worthwhile trip.

This one is simply magnificent! It just melts into your hand. When pieces of steel are fit this well together, it seems to become almost surreal.

The consistent level of craftsmanship in the weapsons at the LTW booth was amazing!

Ted. What are the specs on that finish. I have a stainless commander and would like to have that kind of finish on my pistol. TIA. BTW, it's absolutely stunning.

Mute, there is no finish on that gun. Fine aluminum oxide on the slide top, glass beads on all other edges, and a 600 polish on the flats blended with light grey scotchbrite(fine). No secrets, just a lot of elbow grease and some patience :D

Thanks Ted. That actually was the information I was looking for. I should state myself more clearly. Again, it's a beautiful job.
