I wonder if anyone of you would share your impressions of this year SHOT from a custom gunsmith's prospective. 1911 and BHPs being usual base guns for a majority of the projects, did you see anything that you thought was worth working over? The web is full of pictures of various new offerings like SAOs from Sig etc. And, in more traditional vein, the 1911 from USA Firearms has already received some praise. Just curious...

I read on the 1911 forum that Springfield has some new products that sound interesting. Since I am a big Springer fan I am hoping some one here that saw them up close can give us the real skinny. The new Sig commander and CCO look pretty nice.

Wilson Combat: a new compact 9mm that seemed very well made, from the RSA.

Some outfit, have not sorted my info yet, had a .50 semi auto rifle in the .50 cal artillery spotting round. Always knew it was there but never knew anything about it. Kali legal too, since the goofball Kali dictators were so .50 BMG-obsessed that they actually gave specs for BMG in the law, so, according to these guys anyway, other .50 cals are legal. Looks like a BMG round only maybe 1 3/4" shorter.

Novak's 1-piece 1911 MSH / backstrap is cool, the way to go really, if you can live without the grip safety. Very well done of course, available through them.... kinda spendy right now but I think it's gonna go down at some point if I understood correctly.

More later.

Got to hold a couple of these. Very nice. They have some "smith fit" versions now and a drop in coming. Sounds like these will finally be out.
