Hello,

I have two in-the-raw Caspian wide frames I would like to have built into Limited race guns for IPSC competition. I want to have one in .40S&W and one in .45 ACP.

Would anyone care to mention a smith who might be interested in doing this project(s)? Or if one of the great smiths who visit this forum is interested, please PM me. Thanks.

Try picking up the phone and calling one of the smiths here. They are ALL more than qualified and willing to help.

When it comes to the Caspian fat frame, EGW and Matt McLearn are probably the best known for building them into race guns.

Try Rich Dettlehouser at Canyon Creek

He built a Hi-Cap limited gun for me using a Springfield HiCap frame and STI top end parts, which can be seen here.

The post also includes a short testimonial. Rich was awesome to deal with, quick, and great quality work. He's also a Limited and Production GM. Rich also has pics of his work using Caspian frames and we discussed building one using those, but there were, and still are no mags available for limited. My friend had him build a Caspian limited gun that was outstanding. PM me if you have any other questions.

Gents,
I had Cylinder & Slide build me a hi-cap .45ACP on an enterprise frame years ago. I can recommend their work wholeheartedly- the checkering work in the wide fronstrap is really impressive, and they built a gun that runs like a top...I just wish I had more time to shoot it and compete. :(
