I don't know if this is anything special. I found it collecting dust in a store cabinet while I was trveling on business. The price was reasonable so I grabbed it up.

CDNN had a bunch of those for sale for years.
IIRC, even though they are marked Series 70, they are still cut for the Series 80 stuff.

Those are of fairly recent manufacture; probably the last six-eight years. Although it never really got off the ground, it looked like Colt was going to start marketing "competition" parts, such as sights, extended safeties, etc., under the name "Colt Competition". The worst part of it, was the way CDNN cut a bunch of those slides for Kimber sights.

I built a 5" .45 with one of these slides on a Capsian frame. It turned out very nice. I will post a pic or two after bluing if I think of it. My slide was fine but I read from Hilton Yam (IIRC) that he had a few that were out of spec in a few areas. I think he posted about it on the 1911 Forum. I checked mine out and it was fine. The gun can shoot 3/4" groups when I do my part at 20 yards

I have used several of those slides on builds. They are not any more out of spec than any other Colt slide. They are good slides, in fact in my experience they seemed to be a little oversized in the rail area.
