Lefty O,
I have six 10mm 1911s and I've experimented with the AFTEC, Colt, and an Ed Brown Extractor. None have given me any problems whatsoever, and I wouldn't hesitate to use any of these high quality extractors for a 10mm. I can say this... the AFTEC is quite expensive, but when you consider the cost of a built 1911, it is not that much, and can be compared to buying an extra extractor. It will not likely fail under any conditions that wouldn't cause you to fail as well. That being said, the most important things are ensuring the extractor is properly tuned and kept clean. Good luck with your project.
