In John's other post, someone asked what is considered bling, bling in GA? Well, here it is. I visited the owner of this blaster the other day. He asked John to build the above gun using Wilson's frame and slide. It has Heinie rear sight, Wilson beavertail, Colt thumb safety, Wilson mag chute. I can't remember other details. But the flats on this gun were bumper chrome shiny, you can see yourself in it. Now that's bling, bling.

No Mother of Pearl grips?
I thought they came standard with bumper chrome.

Isn't it bling enough with those carbon fibers?

The high polished chrome is not for everyone but the gun appears to be put together very well. Did John build this one?

Very true Steve. The super shiny bumper chrome finish is not for everyone, but the owner insisted on it. John Harrison built this piece using the Wilson frame/slide the owner furnished. I've gotten to shoot this piece, it's a great shooter.

Ahhh, the Bling-Bling Blaster (can I build one for you?)

I'm just now starting to grow back my fingerprints from all the sanding at 2000 grit.

Neat website all...I'm surfing through and up jumps a pic of my Sunday afternoon barbeque blaster... Smooth One is right, it runs and shoots great...Nowlin barrel and STI internals from the trigger to the hammer except for a Wilson sear...can't remember it choking except for once when Smooth One put a cheap mag in it...spank spank...I thought about sending it back to John for bead blasting but would have felt bad about his wasting the bucket and a half of elbow grease already invested in the finish...John has crafted 4 customs for me over the years and they are my favorite and best shooters...I'll post the others when I have more time on a weekend sometime...John's blasters all have one thing in common.. they run very reliably...the trigger on this one is the lightest that I have and I can probably shoot it more accurately than the others...Regards, JM

Everyone here loves John's work. Looking forward to the additional pictures of your guns and his elbow grease. BTW that gun isn't THAT Bling Bling. 8)

Thanks Steve, at that time I wanted something good looking, a good shooter and well made with a mag shute but I gotta admit...If you run out of ammo on a desert island with it...you could still flag down an airplane with the flats or use it as a mirror...don't even think about trying to get all the fingerprints off of it (it won't happen)...and allthough it's not a carry gun, with the above mentioned and a 2lb or less trigger...still it's a neat piece to me..today it has stag grips on it and an STI poly ultralight trigger...I do really like the original colt thumbsafety that is on it...My first custom from John was a 500$ Springfield that John customized with a black t finish...Now that one is quite indeed a great carry and a good shooter...

My feeling is that if they go bang, when ya want them to, and you like them, and can carry it comfortably, then carry what you want. If John built it, and it looks like the rest of his work, then it's all good.

Steve,
Thanks for "defending" the high polish look!!!! It would look really nice with my Mexican silver, abalone inlayed, engraved, "pimp grips"!!! You of all folks know how I love to have at least ONE (NOT ALL) 1911 that is shiny and "a tad overdone".
My personal belief is that every 1911 afficianado should have ONE bright, shiny gun with "attention-getting" grips............. kind of like a "boarder gun".
Hope all is well for you, and it IS getting really close to "Gilbert, AZ. time" for me............... I am getting anxious.
Best to you and your family.
Jeffro

This pic shows how really shiny this piece is. It's wearing different grips and trigger.
