Hi Jim--
I've done some SA's in the past that did not work well with an Ed Brown. It's not about the radius, it's how much "meat" there is to work with, top and bottom, on the grip safety and/or on the gun (top being where the hammer clearance cutout is). The tangs on these SA's were profiled a little lower than other guns, so there was not enough metal to match the line of the top of the EB grip safety. I consider that a problem with the gun and not the grip safety. In these cases I've had to use TIG welding to fill the gap, always an option but never a first choice. On a gun that'll get Parko and paint, no biggie, but it may show if it's gonna get blued or chromed.
I have the idea that newer SA's don't have this problem, but I can't really say for sure. I don't see a high volume of guns and I often don't know exactly what their vintage is..... plus I use a variety of grip safeties, depending on customer specs.
You could eyeball whether or not a particular one will work by sticking the MSH retaining pin (same 5/32 dia. as the thumb safety shaft) halfway into the frame and halfway into the prospective grip safety.... that is if you have a prospective grip safety.
I will say that I find the Wilson grip safeties compatible with a wider variety of guns. That's not slam on the EB part, it is simply cut much higher and so works with a narrower range of guns.
