for some reason (? I am getting confused with old age?) it seems to me that there are some reasons, other than value, not to customize a National Match Colt - like their dimensions are different or something?

Coudl anyone clarify this for me?

thank you

Richard

The pre-70 series NM's have lightened slides that some people aren't crazy about for hardball use.

Any of the post war National Matches (Gold Cups) will have to have the awful sight replaced. Wilson sells an adjustable for this use that does a nice job. You can also pay big bucks to have the slide welded up, reserrated and a fixed sight installed. After that you are still stuck with the WIDE, heavy trigger. Kings and Dlask make replacement triggers that are lighter, but still wider than a standard 1911.

Those are really the only issues. If you like the wide trigger and adjustable sights it is a decent base gun.

FYI, Don't ever mess with a PRE-WAR NATIONAL MATCH.

You can send to EGW. George can install a wichita adjustable rear sight. They work great!

Can you get the Wichita sight? I thought they were out of business?
