I like small Wlathers, hate the bite. Promised I would not tell who did the beavertail (it was a bit of a favor, plus the smith who did it could not get the trigger group back together). Sites were done by the Ashley people.

This is a great pocket gun. I dn't know why Walther does not aggressively bevel the back underside of the slide like is done on Makarovs.

Richard:

I think you should just end your suffering and sell it to me !

Actually, I have always had a soft spot for the TPH - I wish I could find an alloy frame .25acp version.

That looks great. Not too big, but big enough to do the job.

I have a TPh in .22 that I like a lot.
It cut me now and then until I stoned the sharp edges that did the cutting- now it only gets me sometimes.

I'd carry it as a backup to a backup if it was more dependable (once every couple of magazines a round will need a second hit).
I ordinarily wouldn't keep an undependable gun around, but it is so accurate (all out of proprtion to it's size) that I can't let it go.

Very swoopy and sexy with the beavertail added!

These short ones in .22 are ammo sensitive. I'll bet if you go with a more "standard" load as opposed to a hyper-velocity one you'll get better reliability.

FWIW - I had two of these that I bought from CDNN for about $300 each, then kept the better of the two. this one has always been very reliable, but, has its own ammo preferences.

I owned an alloy German TPH that was tooo nice to shoot. Had to sell it cause i was afraid I would scratch it.

The TPH goes great in a Nemesis pocket holster.

Unfortunately, that gun's standard of one failure to fire in 15-20 rds IS with the most reliable ammo I tried through that gun! I tried a dozen or so, from a couple of Eleys, through the "regulars", and the only hyper I had (Stingers). Luckily, and somewhat surprisingly, the most reliable performer was Winchester DynaPoints, which I like.

If I were really and truly serious about going to carry it, I'd send it to someone for a going over. I delay doing that because I have little need for that type of gun, but I sure think it's worth fixing. I wish someone would make them again, and with a little better QC. But then, people would probably balk at what it would cost, not realizing what a feat it is to make something that small that works.
