I'm looking to get a decent base gun for a custom carry build. I've come across a Colt Ser 80 (early 1980s vintage) Combat Commander in 38 Super.

I do like the 38 Super round and wondered what your thoughts were on using this a good concealed carry weapon?

Are the Combat Commanders in 38 Super somewhat rare or pretty easy to find?

This one is a one-owner w/about 50 rounds shot. The older man w/this one has developed arthritis and went to a double action Sig versus the single action 1911 (doesn't like carrying cocked-and-locked).

Price out the door is $850 and I'd rate this gun in about 98%.

What do you all think?

Got a link for Budsgun shop? I'll check into that.

Also, is there a big difference between a Combat Commander and a Commander?

Thanks again.

The Commanders were originally all lightweight with an aluminum frame. Combat Commanders are all steel. I'm not confident that new gun nomenclature follows that original rule.

Also...just so you know, I have bought a couple of firearms from Bud's guns via Gunbroker over the years and they have always been great to do business with in my opinion. Now when I am looking for a new gun, I always check with them or their website to see what they have.
