The magazine is a yearly publication much like the yearly Custom Combat Handguns put out by Harris Publications. The magazine store I got it from usually has magazines a few days to a few weeks before the the grocery stores. You should start seeing these very shortly. The article said the two 5" gun's were Ted's personal guns and the commander was a customer gun. Patience is a virtue shared by many, myself not included.

I have the same magazine from LAST year. It had some really nice stuff in it. It did have a rather lengthy articel with many pictures about Devel and the guns he came up with. Apparently Novak owns a bunch of them now cause he was the one they used for the article.
They also had a section with vintage pre-war stuff with some RARE stuff you'd never see any other place. Pretty cool magazine, I'll be buying it again now that I know Yost has some of his stuff in it.

The last issue had a photo of the prototype 1911 that Moe Browning built for himself. It has serial number 2 or 3 IIRC. It must be in a museum somewhere because it's still in excellent condition.

Sea, hi again. I went to some places around my house here in MI. I found a JAN. issue of guns&ammo but didn"t have that article. I also found a guns&ammo buyers guide it did not have it either. Is there anyway you can find out what issue it is, and tell me what is on the cover. I would greatly appreciate it, thanks

I went looking around too and came home with three other periodicals I didnt need, but no "Complete Boook of 1911s." The girl at Barnes and Nobels was very helpful though. She said have you seen this one and have you seen this magazine; she took my name and number and said she would call when they came in. She said 1911s were her personal favorite too and that she like the traditional lines of a blued steel firearms. I told her I knew Ted Yost personally and she wet her pants. I thought I was on "Candid Camera" but no Mr. Funt came out.

JJ it's not the monthly G&A magazine. This is a once a year special edition.

As I recall, the Browning prototype was in the Browning museum in Ogden, Utah. They have his hand-built prototypes on display. One of these days I'm going to talk Browning into a book project that lets me handle and photograph those guns.

One prototype 1911 has the slide stop lever on the Right side of the frame. Think about it.

I want to congratulate Mr. Yost on that article. I'm very happy to hear of your humble, "self taught" background. Makes me feel a little better about things. You're the man Ted. 8)

Ted, I am still in search of this periodical. When I get them, can I have you sign all of them?? I figure an autographed Ted Yost Copy of the GA Complete Guide to 1911s" would make her (The girl at Borders) very happy indeed. I went there again (Borders) yesterday and she actually asked me if I found it. I think she loves the 1911 almost as much as I do. It is so strange, she a very nice looking young lady, going to college at one of the most liberal schools, CSU Long Beach, has a gothic style, and yet loves the 1911.
