Are the new production FN HP's suitable for a build platform? CDNN has them new for $429. Has anyone built a custom on one?

Thanks!! Gary http://www.randgfirearms.com

i cant see why not. the FN guns are the exact same pistol as the browning marked guns, the only difference is the rollmark- they are made on the same assembly line.

I just had Wayne Novak's shop build a nice carry gun on a new FN. It looks as good as any I have had built on Browning Mk. III's, and they tell me at the shop that they like to build on the FN's. In addition, an added benefit is that the serial number has been moved from the front strap to the side of the frame, thus freeing up the front strap for various treatments, if you so desire.

I thought so but wasnt sure if FN had started using MIM parts or started cutting corners. I am going to order a 40 and send it to Novak or Ted. Lawman how about some pics and details of what you had done.

Thanks from another "old lawman"

From all the comments over at the FN Hipower forum, folks are very happy with them.

With the exception of what I think is a really nice new roll mark (this first imported FN's had a pretty fugly stamp) and the placement of the serial number on the side of the frame, these are the same pistols. If I could find one in the PRK at a decent price, I'd pick one up. Felony level transfer fees by FFL's in the LA area kills any internet price savings. I've been quoted as high as $75 plus the DOJ fees.

AFAIK, the only difference is that Browning gives you an extra magazine with your purchase. It's the same pistol made by the same people. FN markets to LEOs and military. Browning to the civilian market. Same company otherwise.

I just bought one of the FN's from CDNN for a build. Other than the roll marks and serial number placement, it's the same gun. It came from CDNN with one 10 round and one of the KRD extra capacity mags.

Don, I am looking at your Tactical package. Could you do it with Bomars and hardchrome?

Sure, It would run a bit more, but I have no problem with changing packages to suit the customer.
