As always, great looking gun, John! Was that logo done with a new stencil, or the one you had done first?
- Alex.

P.S. Would you like me to add a couple of these pictures to our Photo Gallery?

Thanks Guys!

Ted - I made the plates and sent them to Marv Luse at Gunwares in CO. and had him inlet them. I had three done in different woods and was planning on bring them to SHOT (if there's room to use them).

The gun is a new Series '70 with Heinie Slant-Pro's, plain melted rear & tritium front. It had a nicely sized Colt barrel that fit just right with an EGW bushing and slide stop. The slide got treated to rear serrations at 40 lpi, top serrations around the radius at 40 lpi, french borders, ball cuts at the dustcover, lowered and fluted ejection port and medium carry bevel. The frame got a medium Greider solid trigger lightened internally, a set of Yost-Bonitz ignition parts, set to 3 pounds. The thumb safety is a wide Ed Brown - reshaped to a medium contour and an Ed Brown beavertail fitted to a welded frame for zero side to side play and no triangular holes showing at the bottoms of the frame tangs. The front strap and main spring housing are serrated at 20 lpi in a cameo pattern and the mag well is beveled to 60 degrees. It's wearing a set of smooth ivories with silver Colt medallions.

AFter being hard at work all year, it was time to treat Johnny! :D

Thanks, Alex. The pistol is marked with the second logo, the stands are the first. Please do and use the last two, I think.

Sorry I am so late to the thread. John, that gun is absolutely gorgeous. Sure like the way you make the gun still look elegantly traditional with some expertly executed modifications. Great lookin' gun. 8)

I thought so; IMO it looks much better than the first "version".

I'll email you re: pictures.

Wow, after seeing this gun and the one on your website, I ordered a set of Ivory grips for my Colt. Very nice work. I'm looking forward to having you work your magic with a couple of my 1911s.

John,

That's an absolutely beautiful piece of work. My only question is, did you give yourself a discount on the labor? Because, it looks like you paid a pretty penny and got every bit of it and then some in return. Have fun at the SHOT show, and again, fine job.

Looking good Dr. John! I like the new logo, too.

Another thing about ivory, well, I have not worked with it that much but it seems like a good strong material, more durable that any wood I believe.

Gorgeous John. You do know that sooner or later you're going to be dogged by potential customers to do this all the time? Best,

Just downright sharp, John.

Don't you ever get tired of perfection?

I'm assuming this will be one of the pieces at SHOT that I'll be smudging....

That is very nice, John. It wood look good atop a CEOs mahogony desk--very elitist-like air to it.

Be well!

Thanks for all the kind comments!

Yes, it's one of three that I'm bringing to Vegas for SHOT. I'm getting really excited about seeing everybody work, all in one place. That's going to be something special!

John,

Beautiful gun, but I would have expected no less. I can't wait to see it and actually meet everyone at SHOT.

Best,

Ray
