Just kidding, no it's not a real Det1 or 1*, I just wanted to get your attention. Not really new but has a new look. I loved the original Milspec, I paid $400 including tax, it performed flawlessly with 1000 rounds of hollow points. The original sights were serviceable but "uncool". The spur hammer was dehorned as were the thumb safety and grip safety. I threw away the ILS MSH and replaced it with a Smith Alexander smooth MSH with lanyard loop, installed a long solid trigger. But there was still something missing. I saw the American Handjob magazine with the WW2 Colt Repro by Larry Vickers and I thought to myself, that's what my Springfield should look like. I gave the piece to John Harrison at Precision Gunworks asking him to:

install an old style Heinie rear
round commander hammer
McCormick thumb safety
Smith Alexander beavertail grip safety
dehorned the entire pistol
do a carry trigger job
reparkerize the pistol

Hope the picture works.

No more tears, works great!! Nice pistol. I've always liked the basic style, If I have another one done I'll fallow those lines.

It's hard to beat a well executed basic pistol.

See, told ya I got your attention. Chuck Rogers is right with his link to the real Det1 piece. Maybe I should post a pic of my other "almost" Det1 wannabe piece. :)

Absolutely awesome 1911. You should be very proud to own that gem.

Got it now, thanks. I guess I had heard of it after all.
Boy, that tab-less ambi safety sure caused a fuss on the 1911 forum, didn't it?
I've got a lightly customized M1991A1 that has a tab-less Mueschke ambi on it that causes a ruckus now and then. I have the page number it's on in the Brownell's catalog memorized- page 90- because I've answered the question so much.

Forgot to mention the first time- nice gun!
