Hey all,

One of my very favorite firearms of all time is the Pachmayr Combat Special. I remember seeing it on the cover of either GUNS or Combat Handgunner when I was a kid. Probably the first gun magazine I ever bought too. I just got it so I could admire the picture on the cover of the Pachmayr.

I don't know how many of them were made, but one day I would love to own one. I know you can get a modern day interpretation of one from Pistol Dynamics, but you can't get the PACHMAYR version.

I'd like to get an idea as to what one of these 1911's would cost if you came across one for sale. Or what do you think one would be worth?

Any ideas? Have you ever seen one for sale? Have you ever seen or handled one?

I guess you could say it's my GRAIL Gun.

Thanks

Nalajr

I sold a Govt Model and a Combat Commander 7 or 8 years ago for $2500 each.

Paul Liebenberg was one of the builders - he now has his own shop = search for Pistol Dynamics. My memory is that he had an "updated" version on his website.

They start at $4600 for the classic version which is an accurate representation of the Pachmayr version.

Minty Pachmayr Combat Special that I recently acquired after looking for a long time. I was informed that this one was built by Mike LaRocca, the lead gunsmith while at Pachmayr, in the late 70's. It's a VERY VERY Nice Pistol.

IMO, They range from $2k-$3.5k depending on level of build and condition. Checkered, two-tone guns with Bo-Mars and Beavertails seem to be the most desirable.
