I’m pretty sure the Team-Gun collaborations are something that all the LTW ‘smiths look forward to throughout the year. The Team-Guns give us all an additional opportunity to be paired up with another LTW ’smith in order to create a one-of-a-kind custom available only through the LTW group. Once finished the Team-Guns are offered for sale and present a unique chance for someone to own a collaboration between two LTW ’smiths, something seldom seen outside of the charity guns.
This first Team-Gun of 2009 was done by John Harrison and Ted Yost and is built on a Colt LW Commander and chambered in .45ACP.
The build was basically a top/bottom split with the gun starting off at John’s shop where he meticulously performed the frame modifications including: high-cut and true front strap, blend mainspring housing, 30lpi checkering front and rear, McCormick beavertail grip-safety, Ed Brown thumb safety, mag-well bevel, trigger job using tool steel components, installation of short trigger, serrated mag-release, as well as hand-crafting the phenomenal stocks that adorn the gun.
Once John was finished with his part the gun arrived at our shop where Ted performed the following: install Kart barrel w/EGW barrel bushing, flattened and serrated slide top, install Professional Grade rear sight, Gold Line front sight, complete reliability job, Wilson ejector and extractor, serrate rear of slide, lower and flare ejection port, bordered slide, dehorn, and polished blue finish with nitre blue accents.
Without question this is a unique opportunity to own a collaboration from John Harrison and Ted Yost and the gun is currently available for purchase
here... enjoy!
