I’m pretty sure the Team-Gun collaborations are something that all the LTW ‘smiths look forward to throughout the year. The Team-Guns give us all an additional opportunity to be paired up with another LTW ’smith in order to create a one-of-a-kind custom available only through the LTW group. Once finished the Team-Guns are offered for sale and present a unique chance for someone to own a collaboration between two LTW ’smiths, something seldom seen outside of the charity guns.

This first Team-Gun of 2009 was done by John Harrison and Ted Yost and is built on a Colt LW Commander and chambered in .45ACP.

Image

The build was basically a top/bottom split with the gun starting off at John’s shop where he meticulously performed the frame modifications including: high-cut and true front strap, blend mainspring housing, 30lpi checkering front and rear, McCormick beavertail grip-safety, Ed Brown thumb safety, mag-well bevel, trigger job using tool steel components, installation of short trigger, serrated mag-release, as well as hand-crafting the phenomenal stocks that adorn the gun.

Once John was finished with his part the gun arrived at our shop where Ted performed the following: install Kart barrel w/EGW barrel bushing, flattened and serrated slide top, install Professional Grade rear sight, Gold Line front sight, complete reliability job, Wilson ejector and extractor, serrate rear of slide, lower and flare ejection port, bordered slide, dehorn, and polished blue finish with nitre blue accents.

Without question this is a unique opportunity to own a collaboration from John Harrison and Ted Yost and the gun is currently available for purchase here... enjoy!

WOW! That is a beauty! Just as soon as I get one of my children sold on the black market, I'll see if I can swing it!

Someone will be lucky, that is truly a work of art!

Always an enjoyment to see the best a work. And the final result.

Thanks guys,

These team guns are something a little special because it gives us a chance to work together - something that's usually easier said than done. You'd be amazed at how hard it is to find the time to build half a gun with someone else trying to find that same hole in their schedule too! John's work on the bottom end was beautiful. People always ask if there are any "before" photos, and this gun would have been an interesting subject. Bad lines, bad fit, you know...Colt stuff  John worked magic, and left me with big shoes to fill where the top was concerned.

The frame/slide fit came out excellent, and the gun shoots very well indeed. John's trigger and action components provide an extremely nice pull, and his grips feel great in the hand. (They just needed a bit more razzle-dazzle, JH...a little shine  )

You guys keep knocking it out of the park. I always enjoy seeing new customs from the individual shops, however when you all get together and build one there is always something special about those firearms.

I can't believe that I'd totally forgotten about this pistol. It turned out very nicely! Ted, you did an awesome job cleaning up my vandalism there buddy! You're right about the "before" pics. This one needed help and got it in spades. Theo did an amazing job with the top end and made my grips look great - Thanks Bro!

Great looking pistol.

Jason: Has there been any thought given to building a Team gun in another caliber besides .45? I would love to see a collaboration on a .38 Super platform.

How about a 2 barrel, 3 caliber Team Gun? 9x19mm, 38 Super and 9x23mm.
:D

Indeed there has... not a .38 Super (not that I know of anyway) but something different than a .45ACP.

Ted and John are similar in their styles which made this one really special. Great every day carry set up. I have a LW Commander at the shop which needs to get built one of these decades. When it gets done it will look very close to this, what a beautiful gun.

Just a quick range report: put about 500 rounds through this gun today, it runs pretty much as you would expect. Shoots great, looks great, feels great. Thanks to Ted and John for a wonderful weapon.

I am probably a bit over paranoid, but it is a new seller, with no history.

First....On your piece it is a great opportunity for a unique and beautiful piece of craftsmanship.

Second......... As many know I retail and about 80% is internet. Last year for 2013 33 of my ads have been copied and used as scam material in various places. This year it is 9 so far with the CT Brian twice as scam material. Armslist holds the record with 33, the rest are general internet forums and 3 GunsAmerica and one on GB. This is only those you who know me have sent me links to. Again that number is what folks like you have told me about............ Now if a little dinky retailer like me has that amount, just imagine how many more are being posted on the "Craiglist" type venues such as Arms List.

So the "paranoia" is well placed.... The be anyone you want to be on the internet

Hard to get unique, one of a kind "anything" are mostly the subject of these scams. I will email anyone a copy of one of the ad's I saved. PM your email. I will not respond to anyone who is not a forum member with a few posts. Yes, those scammers read these forums for information on high dollar scams.

Please somehow someway, check out your seller, I REPEAT check out your seller as you have almost ZERO recourse with a scam. KNOWN sellers always cost more than an unknown so checkout your seller. Call the seller, email the seller, somehow contact the seller.

Also check out your buyer. A scammer who poses as a buyer will do the same to get personal information from you to use for identity theft. We have one scammer who has copied mine who uses a 469 area code from Texas. I am from Texas and I was selling the gun that was copied as an ad. These scammers are smart. Be smarter......................

Follow my do your research tag line or you will take it in the back end...................

true. And its a good looking firearm. I suspect it might not get many bids, the paranoia bug (as identified above). Good luck on the sale. How many rounds through it?
