George Huening of Wold Class Pistol and 2x Indy Car winning Chief Mechanic as been quietly building some pistols again. It is great to have him local and to be able to call him a good friend. There are a couple of GH2 custom pistols that George has recently built that are being used in competition. But this represent something very different, from the recently released and on Newstands now from the magazine "The Complete book of the model 1911" is a build that George did for a fellow racing guy that they are calling a "Retro Hot Rod", using parts from a 1920 Colt, new frame and slide and hand made parts and in 9x23 is this one of a kind 1911.

Very nice. I remember George from my sniper school instructor days. A couple of us would visit WCPI back then. Funny I was mentioning him to my 1911 custom class students last week and wondered to myself what he was up to.

He is the General Manager at C&R Racing, but has been keeping some of us locals guns running. He also done a few things for some winning Bianchi Cup guns. He has done a few competition gun builds and has some more he is working on.

Oh boy, I'm really feelin' this one!

Also good to see Frank James' by-line again, he is one of my favorite writers that seems to have cut back on submissions in the last several years.
