All the elements come together in this one. A beautiful set of micarta stocks with the Delta inlaid emblem, a reconfigured sight Lew Bonitz came up with, and all the best components you can think of, put together in one of the nicest 1911 style guns I have seen. If Ted is known for anything it is the traditional custom or "classic" style 1911 that will never date itself.

Hard to imagine this frame coming in from Sprinfield via Rob Leatham. It was a rough cut NM frame with absolutely no finish work on it. Then the machine work coupled with some very careful 25 lpi hand checkering and detail work, then a perfect satin blue/black finish.

A welded on mag well blended into the frame. The stocks are from John VZ of VZ grips and cut to fit the top of the mag well. A polished crown, serrated rear of the frame, YoBo action components with a crisp 3.75lb trigger, and 10mm to top it off. Shoots like it looks. Well that is not entirely true, it shoots like a rifle... 8)

I hate giving it back...Enjoy the snaps.

I was fortunate enough to handle this piece at the shop before it was totally completed and was hoping everyone would turn their back so I could make a run for the door!
Truely a magnificnt piece!
The new Yo-Bo design sights are absolutely awesome!!!
I predict they will be the hot new thing and make Novaks and Heinies nostalgic. ("It's a 1911 wearing Novaks;must be a pre-YoBo sight gun")

I am not a rail gun fan...but if I was to get one...THIS ONE IS IT!!! :D Great looking blaster. Now how about some info on the SIGHTS!! I have a couple of projects I need to choose sights for. So someone at Yo-Bo, please fill us all in. I love how clean they look mounted up.

I never had any interest in owning a 1911 in 10mm. I may have to re-think that. Nice work Ted!

I am at a loss for words to describe this gun. I know I have said that before but each gun that is posted here is just as good if not better than the one posted before it.

Seing all of these 10mm guns has lit a flame of intrest in having one occupy space in my safe.

I'm having breathing difficulties here. Must... shoot... today... 10mm. That's a VERY unique gun to say the least. Just one question - with no Delta Slide or other parts, why the Delta logo on the grips? Just curious if ti was something the customer wanted or if it simply screamed "10mm!" and felt right. Eh??????

Cool guns make me happy. I wish I had one.

Keeney, that's what I thought, as well! :?
Heard you graduated, congrats. Does that mean you will set up an allotment directly from your payroll to Sams??!!! :P

I see a bunch of head scratching among 10mm barrel makers in the coming months. "Dang, where'd all these 10mm orders come from so suddenly??"

On a SA Operator, is that the furthest back that you should cut the rail dust cover or is it just an aesthetics-thing that just looks the best?

Well, not seeing any reason to have the extra chunk-o-metal up there Ted decided the Operators would look best cut back a little, give the gun a little symmetry, to match the cut of the slide. It helps to be a little creative in this business. 8) Ask Ned, he hardly sleeps.

i fig. rob leatham would get just about any custom gun he wanted from springer?? isnt dave williams the director?

just curious.

side note/kinda off topic

side note. is the springfield shop set up to do TRUE CUSTOM work comparable to yost/rogers/christiansen ect. (get what you ask for)

or is the springfield professional about as far as they go into custom work.
(semi custom)

No, this one's not Rob's, it's Theo's :P Rob gets plenty of nice guns. He did hook me up with Dave, who was gracious enough to find me a frame that had not had the feedramp cut for .45ACP. Yes, Springfield does have a custom shop that is capable of anything you can dream up. I get to see a lot of Rob's guns that come from Dave Williams and Jason Chambliss at Springfield, and some of the innovative work is truly something to marvel at. Rob likes squared guards, and Jason has a unique way of doing it that's cosmetically and structurally superior to most other ways I've seen.

Lightened slides and 9mm 1911's that actually run well are also specialties of the SA Custom shop.

Springfield Operators are some of the nicest looking railed frames out there. If only SA would put one out in 10mm, they would sell like hotcakes. Colt Deltas are a little pricey but they are floating around and the Dan Wesson 10mms are selling pretty good..and maybe other manufacturers to take a hint from Dan Wesson!!

Every time we see a new piece here the adjectives gush and, well frankly what else is there to say that has not already been said? The English language has a finite amount of words to use. Does this mean at my age I need to learn Spanish, French, Russian or British  .
Back to basics, a beautiful firearm. Job well done. Congrats Theo. Use it in good health and prosperity.

I think this is the ideal 10mm pistol. I have often heard that the muzzle blast from a touched off 10mm can be an enlightening moment. With that extra mass out front would I be out of place in saying that it would assist in managing recoil for hammers and driving this pistol at CQB drills.

I had the luck to own one of Ted's pistols about 10 years ago and unfortunately, sold it at a time of need. Ted, you do fine work!
