Here are some snaps of a C-VII that I just finished. The work was done as follows:

Function Reliability tuning
Greider short solid trigger & trigger job
Ed Brown bobtail job, checkered to 30 lpi, to match the Baer checkering on the front strap.
Reshaped Baer beavertail and shortened King's thumb safety
30 lpi serrations on top of slide
Beveled slide bottom
Ball cuts at recoil spring tunnel
French Border
Shortened and countersunk slide stop pin
Carry Bevel
Bar-Sto bull barrel -w- Briley reverse plug & FLGR
Davidson 4X4 G-10 grips
Hard Chrome by Tripp

Yep... that's nice. Great gun, John, and very well executed.

I have a question for you or any other gunsmith here that does hard chrome guns. How tight can the gun be fitted before sending it off to be hard chromed? Do you have to allow for the chrome thickness? I know it's only about 0.0005" thick, or so I've heard, but will a very tight gun be hindered by the additional thickness? I know... odd question, but I have no clue.

Again, that's a great looking gun.

John,
Another outstanding gun. All the mods you do seem to flow perfect when the gun is done. Unreal. I like the prep before the HC.

Another beauty, John. You must get bored with perfection.........

Jim, I personally make no allowances for hard chroming. If anything comes back a little tight, a bit of 800 grit lapping compound carefully applied will smooth any trouble spot back to 'schweeet'......

WOW!!

I saw this pistol at John's shop while it was in the midst of the work. It sure came out very nice. The slide bevel looks amazing on this pistol.

Some really interesting choices by the owner. The checkering on the Bobtail MSH is of particular interest; I wonder if it will grab any cover garments. The recessed muzzle crown of the bull barrel just looks wicked. Always love the King's safety lock reworked to be a slightly larger Colt part.

Johnny has elevated that pistol into an altogether different realm than where it started.

A carry pistol with tremendous distinction!
