After not having had a chance to drop into this forum for a while, thought I'd stop in before the turkey day festivities....what a welcome surprise! It's been a while since this one was in the shop and I just sorta forgot about it.
As said before, it truly is such a honor and just plain cool thing to be able to collaborate with such fine craftsmen. We have a turkey day tradition of going around the table and saying what we're thankful for...these opportunities are near the top of the list.
I was hoping John would do his bordered flat top slide, as I've admired this touch on his pistols for quite some time, and he did not disappoint! I consider this a Harrison trademark, and to me it just ooozes coolness in a very classy way. I really like how the slide is finished out with the clean edge breaks and all.
And like Ned, I wanna know where in the heck the seam in the mag well went, Don! It must have been masterfully TIG'd all around and then finished out....beautiful. That grip safety is fit so tight it looks TIG'd on as well. Great job on all those little finish details that seem to take forever, but make the whole pistol come together.
Steve thanks for the finish work, adding the shweet slide stop mod and taking the pics. The guys bringing it all together in the end never gets enough credit!
Perhaps we should put together a build list for the new owner, with who did what, just for documentation/posterity? I'll start...
Chen:
Scallop and high cut frontstrap
Flush cut and scallop mainspring housing
Machine front cocking serrations
Machine french border
Match fit barrel bushing, turn barrel
Flush cut and deep crown muzzle
Custom fabricate mainspring housing for magwell
I hope this pistol will give a lifetime of enjoyment for its new owner!
Happy Thanksgiving all....
