The utility of a good mouse gun or backup gun is often overlooked. Last year around this time, Ted and Lew presented me with a one of a kind and for that matter a once in a lifetime gun. Affectionately known as the Marilyn Monroe Custom. Not sure how this one got the name but it has been rumored that Marilyn herself carried this one while hanging around the Kennedy boys. Guess she felt she needed it. Must of left it at home that night.

Anyway, it is my privelege to take some snaps of this one. I am not sure you can get these anymore but if you happen to find one at a flea market or garage sale grab that mother in a hurry they don't make them like this anymore. For your viewing pleasure.

Sorry, the detail in this gun is so intricate it is hard to get good photos.

Note the solid match trigger.

For those of you who don't remember, this is the famed J-22 made in a limited run by Jennings.

The hand cut dehorn on this gun makes it a pleasure to carry all day long.

Finally a shot of the handmade grips and a shot at the cocking serrations. You don't find this kind of detailed work anymore. Inspiring isn't it.

It is hard to come up with a makers mark that says Pawnbrokers Northwest. Just couldn't fit it in. I'll work on it though.

Beautiful gun Steve. Are those real “driftwood” grips? :P :P

I sure hope you can figure some way to incorporate the “PBNW” logo... after all once my Colts are complete I’m sending you all these for further “customization”. :P

As you can see I’ve already had one cut down into a Fitz Special.

No, you've got it all wrong! The custom "Ghetto Grip Tape" is supposed to be black electrical tape, not scotch tape! :D

For the record Mr. Burton, those grips were painstakingly created by hand. The select wood you see pictured is from the outhouse door of a Portuguese fishing boat that went down in the early 50's. The fresh water preserved the wood in order to produce a fine example of craftsmanship you see here.

Maybe you guys don't understand how long it took the Jennings guys to stamp out that kind of engraving. The gangbangers don't seem to have any trouble carrying these guns, much less making them run, all the friggin time.

Laugh if you will, if you want to know what protects my family, you are looking at it. Sure I could carry any of the guns in the shop......I choose to carry this one. By the way, the stopping power of the 22LR. is continually underestimated. Keep laughin' I know you guys are scanning the net looking for one of these babies.

Well Steve I stand corrected... and now that I know the history behind those fine stocks I may just have you craft a pair for these two gems.

Ah Steve; Shall I tell you about the time when my Dad answered an ADW call in South Central (called 77th at the time), and found that the shoottee was quite conscious of all that was going on after being popped in the forehead with a .25 from an aquaintance - who was doubtless not happy with him. They ran him down to Central Receiving Hospital, the Doc on duty after examining him walked around to his back, gave him a shot of novocaine and then proceeded to make a small incision in his scalp from whence the offending slug popped out. Seems this gentleman had a pretty thick skull, and the round hit him on an angle, and travelled under the scalp to the backside of his skull where it came to rest. I'm told this isn't an unknown occurence. The man had a bad headache, but survived, though he was probably not happy with the shooter.

Now, it's off to Auction Arms to see if I can find one of these for my collection. :P

beautiful.

It reminds me of when I first went to college. This wannabe ganster was bragging about how he had a J-22 in the dorms. "I otta whip out my J."

When we found out exactly what a J-22 was, we laughed at him ;o)

I used to work with a guy who was always saying "You can't polish a tur_."
If I see him again, I'll have to correct him.
