I don't really know what part of the forum this belongs in, or if it does, but it does have to do with a custom pistol I'm being contracted to do. In my quest to insure that there are no comprimises on anything I do I took the time to seek out products and help from amoung the best in the business. This led me to a lot of phone calls yesterday. I had the opportunity to speak to some of the leaders in the industry, including Chuck Rogers, Ted Yost, and Conrad from Kart barrels, amoung several others including my dear friend Dave Sample who has been guiding me in a lot of this. During the introductions and formalities there were a few common threads we all shared, our love for our families, the standards we hold our work up to, and the willingness to help and share. Many of you already knew this, I had a strong suspicion of it, but it was really a great day to find out first hand.

BTW Chuck, we did set a place for you with a NY strip, baked potatoe and corn on the cob, but your phone was busy when I got the table set, sorry. Don't worry though, it didn't go to waste, I took it to work.

Bill, I enjoyed the call. There are "those days", and we all have them, that nothing goes right. I get a great comfort from calling one of the guys and just saying hi. Puts your head back on straight, and reaffirms what we already knew - Why we do this in the first place. It's not the work, although it's challenging and interesting. It's not the product, although it's rewarding to get one done. It's the people. The other smiths, the customers, heck - I even get a charge out of giving the order girls at Brownell's a hard time!

Tony - Ask Judy if she ever got a really wierd response to the standard question : Which catalog are you ordering from today?

YOURS! Duhhhh

Ted is a great person in general, although we should never let him know that we think that.

You guys should also ask Ted how big a smile he gets when he starts talking to those phone solicitors that call trying sell insurance.

Something about wondering if the results of actions with strange animals are covered.
