I just wrapped this one up, perfect timing for the customer who will get home Saturday from a long absence just about the time his gun arrives. He already has a new Nossar holster there waiting for him and this Les Baer Commanche. I was not going to post it but we spoke the other day and his transit home started a couple days ago, and knowing it's done, he is not willing to wait until he gets home to see it. He's stopping off in Dubai where he can get a look at LTW.

O'course, it was pretty nice when it came here. I've Bobtailed it, checkered the BT at 30LPI to match the existing fronstrap checkering, trued and openend up the magwell a bit, changed the sights and added tritium (recessed forward), serrated the top of the slide, dehorned it where it wasn't already and increased it a bit where it was, and, well a whole lot of other little things.

The most notable thing about the project was how I got treated at Robar-- GREAT. I've only dealt with them once before and it was also a good experience in customer service. Somewhere along the line I guess I had picked up the impression that I ought not to expect that. But they were all over getting the gun NP3'd for my customer, and they maybe even expedited it a bit. I sent 22 parts and got 22 back, all very carefully wrapped, and each one had been numbered by them. That was a plus and a minor minus, I mean they did a nice enough job of it, but next time I'd do it myself. The choice of NP3 was last-minute after my guy saw the gun that Chuck Rogers recently posted. There I go again, following Chuck's lead, DANG it! :x

So anyway, here's your gun my friend, welcome home!

Very nice, Ned. That is a Baer that deserves some serious trigger time!

Nice work, Ned.

Is a bobtail compatible with your FLH magwell treatment, or does the MSH get too thin with both? Say for instance, hypothetically speaking, on a Colt govt model...

That's what was cool about Robar, GF45, they didn't know me from Adam, I got the feeling they weren't giving me anything special.

Grips are Craig Speigel, really, really nice. The trimming I did came out good but I could not get a varnish that would work right on the newly exposed wood. It just would not dry.

Gotsand, there just is not any metal left "out back" with the Bobtail (you meant Bobtail, right?). Can't do an FLH on it.

Yeah, I thought it looked a tad skinny back there. Guess I'll have to ask for the next one to be bobtailed in advance.

You're too modest Ned, if they don't know who you are........they've been living under a rock! 8) They have treated myself and friends well.
