I don't seem to see much about the Custom Shop on here but I wanted to share my positive experience.

BEFORE: Here's my ol' TRP in its original form. The gun has been around awhile and was looking a little saddle worn. I had Jason at Yost-Bonitz replace the factory hammer, disconnector and sear with a set of their parts but that wasn't enough.

AFTER: Here's the pistol now. I asked Springfield to recontour the dust cover to 2002 specs, serrate the rear of the slide, replace the factory chromed slide stop with an Ed Brown stainless stop, replace the factory chromed mag release with a stainless extended release from Brown, give the gun a hard carry bevel, and replace the dimming sights with MMC sights. Springfield was also kind enough to swap out the chromed extractor that was in the gun with a new stainless one and they also polished up the feed ramp.

I didn't know the TRP slide has a GI-type cut under the front sight dovetail. The MMC front sight I sent is a little shorter fore and aft than the factory sight. Now I can see a little of the GI slot under the MMC sight. No big deal.

Turnaround was about five months.

I have a NIB stainless WWII that needs some attention next.

Nice job, Springfield!!!

always thought the trp was a nice weapon for the price, but never could get past it having "tactical" on it..

Everything I've seen from the SA Custom Shop has been done right!

I always thought the TRP was a good buy for the money as well, and I dont really care that it says tactical on it. The 20 LPI is sharp though. I had a 1911 done years back by Jim Hoag that I loved and it had 20 LPI, but it didnt cut my hands up.

The bead blasted stainless came out nice. The SA custom shop does do some great work, I think they are under rated for the work they do.

Very nice. I have a TRP of my own and though I only have semi-customs to compare it to I actually trust it more than my Ed Brown and Nighthawk pistols. It has been flawless in over 6,000 rounds.
