Most of the range reports I have read have been far less than satisfactory..

I saw the Hogue unit at SHOT-- very impressive looking! But big and boxy. I would guess if it can be done, that these guys can do it. How much advantage there is to be had, I dunno.... it would take some convincing, honestly, but this thing looked so interesting that I'd sure be open minded about it.

The Hogue unit is not gas operated. The NCGGasgun is.

I read all the info I could find on the gas guns when they were trying to get them going.

I liked the idea:

- fixed barrel
- sights/optic regulated to the fixed barrel (no deviation for mechnical fit of parts)
- lower reciprocating mass of the slide

Think Marvel .22 caliber top end.

In my purely layman's opinion, I believe that the slide speed was outrunning the magazines. Seems like some kind of delay for the recoil might be in order.

For non-1911's...

Fred Craig might have got something figured out in one of his guns.

Of course, HK made it work. And, Steyr's GB.

Could be. I have an HK P7 and I think the slide cycles fast. Really fast. I've heard others ay they didn't notice, but it has always seemed that way me.
Not that P7s and these "gas guns" are the same thing at all, but if they share that trait, I could see that it might cause problems.

A bullseye smith by the name of Ed Masaki is said to have a gas gun in the works. I would think you can find info in the archives on the Bullseye-L Forum. IIRC there was a link or post with pics and or video.
