Here are two Colts that recently left my bench... one finished in IonBond DLC and the other in IonBond FDE Tan.
In addition to weld-up frame and slide fits, flattened and serrated slide tops, and only the best quality internals throughout, each gun features a Kart barrel, EGW beavertail grip safety, re-contoured Heinie Slant-Pro rear sight, and an S&A mag-well. I don’t get allot of requests for S&A mag-wells but it was nice to do two of them basically back to back. There is allot of work that goes into making them fit well but in the end this style of mag-well is still a very effective way to achieve a large opening.
The DLC gun could easily have been a keeper for me... it’s hand-checkered at 30lpi front and rear, has a “BM” style thumb safety, and tritium front sight. This gun is built on a Colt WW2 reproduction and I very much like the overall look of the gun with the matte finish and the old style roll-marks.
The FDE gun is built on a stainless steel Series 70 Colt and features hand-checkering at 25lpi front and rear, has a Wilson Combat Bulletproof ambi-safety, front-cocking serrations, and a “white-ball” front sight as inspired by Chuck Rogers. I’m not normally a fan of front-cocking serrations but I think they work well on the FDE gun and I was happy to do them considering the other elements of the build.
Enjoy the pics!
