I have a Gunsite CCO.
I saw the set up CT Brian had at SHOT with the Commander slide and an officers frame as well as a commander frame.

Would I be able to get a Colt LW Commander Frame (series 70) or even a Titanium Caspian Commander Frame and do this with my Gunsite CCO? I doubt it would be as simple as just slapping them together so I would most likely have to send it all to a smith but is it something that can be done somewhat easily or is this a major project?

Thanks!

J. This is one of the simpler mods that can be done. The Officers and Commander frames measure the same on the dust cover and frame rail lengths, so it's basically a matter of making up a new frame to your needs to fit the existing top end. Regards,

The Caspian Ti frame would be easier to acquire- '70 series Colt LW Commanders are getting expensive and hard to find in really good condition, and buying used is always a crapshoot. You have to figure that, even if you get a really good deal on a good condition used gun, you are still looking at $600-700 for a gun you are only going to use the frame from. A brand new Ti frame would be considerably cheaper, and you would know that it hadn't been kitchen table gunsmithed by a previous owner.
