This one was built by Ted for a special customer who wanted a simple gun, good sights, a new barrel, and a great trigger. The customer had the ivories which aged very nicely while the gun was being done. This is another hardchromed gun with satin finished flats. The sharkskin stippling turned out to be aesthetically pleasing and functional. The Ed Brown ambi safety worked out great. Had a chance to get a few photos
today........since I wasn't in the shop.

Hope you like 'em!

The new roll marks are as nice as they have been in years. Satin hardchrome just adds a little.

Great pictures of great work. I've got a pre-70 series sitting in the safe nearly unfired and a new set of ivories my daughter never scrimmed. I might take Ted's advice and fix it up a little. Ted's giving me too many ideas these days.

Bill,
I have several sets of ivories and only one Commercial Colt. If you run out of ideas for that gun let me know.....I got plenty of ideas for it. :P Make sure you shoot a few photos when you are done with it.

WOW! That is beautiful!

Ted has my NRM now, I was sure Blue was the way to go.

These pictures have me thinking??? :?

I think I'll stick with Blueing for this one and have the next one Hard Chromed. Don't tell the boss, she can't see the need for so many 1911's.

To much thinking, always gets me in trouble!

You could never go wrong with getting one of each, of course you'll need a two tone one also, blue over hc.

Man I love that gun!!! Simple, elegant, and very classic!!!

That piece would look real good sitting next to a Swenson.

That is one good looking pistol. I really like the slightly bobbed hammer spur and Government Model grip safety. The stippling looks to be a great way to add traction without tearing up cover garments and hands.

Lately, the retro pistol has held a great appeal to me for carry. I have something similar in process with John Harrison. We ended up abandoning the spur hammer (but it is saved for another project), but the rest of the pistol is remarkably similar to the one pictured in the thread, including the ivory grips.
