I am not even sure if I can afford it. But I have a chance to buy a clark hard ball gun (normally 1500 with the extras on it) for 1150.

Its from pre-1997 but hasnt seen a lot of use. Its made for hardball - but the owner said it shoots wadcutters just fine - which is what I want.

I know this is a good deal. Is this a deal too good to pass up? Below is the info the owner gave me on it.

Jim Clark 1911 "Hardball" service pistol, series ' 70 Colt
No.70G50978
with Bo-Mar rear sight
with Clark's "tiger tooth"Stippled front strap
with flat mainspring housing ,checkered (replaced as below)
with Colt checkered grip panels
with one 7 rd.magazine

after market accessories added

Second 7 rd.magazine
Hex head stock screws ( 4 ) original's included
Flat mainspring housing w/ Clark "tiger tooth"stippling
# 13 recoil spring for shooting "wadcutter" ammo

Pistol's history:
Pistol was purchased from wife of orginal owner, "Ace" Arakawa,
after his passing. Returned to Clark in April '97 for their standard
"tune-up package". This returns the gun to it's orginal accuracy
of 2 1/2 " or less.
Pistol has had very little use since it's return from Clark.

Right side of slide is engraved,by Clark:
"Clark" Hard Ball
Keithvile,La. 71074

Thanks for any help or advice you can add!

I can't tell you much about the Clark guns. However, AJohnston, a member here is kind of an authority on various builders. Maybe shoot him an email and see what he can tell you about the gun and it's worth.

Never mind - my funds - or lack thereof has made my decision for me...

Maybe when I gather the right amount I can get a good recommendation on a bullseye smith.

Sounds like a good deal, with the prices creaping up on the pre-70s series and his recent rebuild, that's a d-e-a-l.
Maybe some dough will present it self in enough time to still take advantage...either way, they are cool huh!
